Welcome to PetHubble. Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our app.
PetHubble is a digital pet record app that helps you track your pet's health, manage vet visits, and store important documents.

We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide and improve our services. This includes:
From the app: Pet data (name, age, breed, medical records, passport info); user-provided notes or reminders; appointment and vaccination dates; uploaded files (e.g., vet documents or images).
Automatically collected: Device type and version; country or language setting; app usage analytics (anonymous); device location (only if you grant permission, used solely to power the optional "Tailored for you" dashboard weather features).
From the optional Walk Tracking feature, if you use it: your GPS location during a tracked walk (route/path, distance, and start/end times); step count, where your device supports it; which of your pets you walked with; and whether you chose to share that walk's live location with your Walking Contacts (see Section 3).
PetHubble lets you track dog walks and, optionally, share your live location with other users while you walk. This is the only feature in the app where your data becomes visible to another user, rather than only to PetHubble.
Walking Contacts are people you've connected with in person, by scanning each other's QR code in the app. We never suggest, search for, or connect you with anyone automatically - a connection only happens if you and the other person are physically together and both choose to scan.
Sharing a walk is optional and off by default. When you start a walk, you choose whether to share your live location for that walk. If you do, your connected Walking Contacts can see, for the duration of that walk only: your live position and route on a map; your name; and the name, species, and photo of the pet(s) you're walking with - not their full profile, medical records, or any other pet data.
Sharing ends automatically as soon as you end the walk, and a Walking Contact can no longer view it after that point. You can remove a Walking Contact at any time in the app, which also ends their ability to see any of your future shared walks.
Being connected as a Walking Contact does not grant access to your pet's health records, documents, or any other data covered elsewhere in this policy - it only ever exposes what's described above, and only for walks you actively choose to share.
We collect this data to: allow you to store and manage your pet's health records; send reminders for vet visits and medication; improve app features and user experience; ensure data security and prevent abuse.
Your data is securely stored on third-party hosting and database providers and protected using encryption and access controls. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. Free-plan users whose trial has ended may see in-app advertisements delivered via Google AdMob, which involves sharing advertising identifiers with Google for that specific purpose - see Section 10 for details.
We process your data based on your consent (when creating an account or uploading data), legitimate interest (to improve our app and services), and performance of a contract (to provide the core features of the app you signed up for).
We may contact you by email or in-app notifications to confirm your account and manage login/security, send service-related messages, or share optional news and tips. Service-related and security messages rely on legitimate interest or contract performance; marketing/optional communications are sent based on your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by contacting us at contact@pethubble.com.
Core features of the app (account creation, pet profiles, document storage, reminders you configure): processed as necessary for the performance of a contract. Security, fraud prevention, and basic service improvement: processed based on our legitimate interest. Marketing communications, optional analytics or non-essential tracking: processed only with your consent, withdrawable at any time.
Account and pet data is kept for as long as your account is active; if you delete your account, data is deleted or anonymised within 12 months. Walk tracking data (route, distance, steps) is retained as part of your account data, on the same terms - ending a walk immediately stops any Walking Contact's ability to view it live, regardless of how long the record itself is kept. Backups are retained for up to 12 months before being overwritten. Technical logs and analytics are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymised.
PetHubble is intended for adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. If you believe a child's personal data has been provided to us inappropriately, contact us at contact@pethubble.com.
PetHubble relies on selected third-party providers ("sub-processors") to operate and improve the app. These providers process data only on PetHubble's instructions, for clearly defined purposes, and in accordance with GDPR.
Netcup hosts the PetHubble backend application and API, on servers located in Germany (EU).
PostgreSQL (self-managed on the same infrastructure) stores user accounts, pet profiles, health records, vaccination data, walk tracking data (route, distance, steps), Walking Contact connections, and metadata associated with uploaded documents.
Scaleway Object Storage (Paris, France) stores uploaded documents such as veterinary records and images.
Where any data is processed outside the EU, appropriate safeguards are applied, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
OpenAI provides the AI features used to analyze pet health documents and generate informative summaries via its API. Only non-identifying, pet-related data is sent for processing; personal data about the pet's owner (name, email, contact details) is removed or anonymised before transmission. Data sent via the OpenAI API is not used to train their models. OpenAI acts as a sub-processor and international transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses.
Open-Meteo provides local weather data for the optional "Tailored for you" dashboard feature. If you grant location permission, your device queries Open-Meteo directly to fetch the local forecast - your precise location is sent only to Open-Meteo, never to PetHubble's own servers, and is never stored by PetHubble. To generate weather-aware pet advice, your device separately sends PetHubble's backend a small set of derived weather values (such as forecast temperature, precipitation, and UV index) - never your coordinates - which are forwarded to OpenAI (see above) to generate that advice and are not stored beyond producing it.
Brevo is used to send transactional emails (account verification, invitations, pet/document sharing) and, where you've explicitly consented, marketing communications. Brevo processes email addresses and related metadata only for this purpose and acts as a GDPR-compliant sub-processor established in the EU.
OneSignal is used to send push notifications to iOS and Android devices. It processes device identifiers and notification preferences to deliver service-related notifications (reminders, alerts, app updates). Notification content never includes sensitive health data. Where applicable, transfers outside the EU are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses.
PostHog (EU Cloud) is used in two separate, independently-consented ways: to collect anonymized in-app usage analytics (e.g., which features are used) to help us understand and improve the app, only where you've consented to analytics in the app - it never receives your pet's health data; and, in a separate PostHog project, to collect anonymized visit analytics on this website (pethubble.com), only if you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can decline the website banner or withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's site data for pethubble.com.
Sentry (EU region) is used to capture crash reports and technical errors from the mobile app so we can detect and fix bugs. Crash reports may include device information and technical app state, but never your pet's health data.
Google AdMob is used to show advertisements to Free-plan users whose trial period has ended. AdMob may process advertising identifiers and general usage data to select and measure ads; you're asked for consent to this via an in-app prompt before any personalized advertising is shown, in line with Google's EU User Consent Policy. You will never see ads on a paid plan or during your trial.
RevenueCat is used to manage paid subscriptions and validate in-app purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. It does not process your payment card details directly - that's handled by Apple or Google. RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription events and a device identifier to keep your subscription status in sync with the app. Where applicable, transfers outside the EU are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses.
If data is transferred outside the EU, it is protected by standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards.
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten" — you can delete your account directly in the app settings, or visit the Data Deletion page), data portability, objection, restriction of processing, and withdrawal of consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in France, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
